Dr. Mickey Gordon

Dr. Gordon was born in Youngstown, Ohio and at age 10 moved to Detroit, Michigan. After placing in the top 5% of Detroit 8th grade students, he was invited to attend Cass Technical High School in the Science & Arts Curriculum. This remarkable school offered advanced classes utilizing college textbooks in Organic Chemistry, quantitative and qualitative analysis, advanced mathematics and 3 semesters of physics.
Many people ask why he became a Foot & Ankle Surgeon. He was greatly influenced by the compassion of his mother a registered nurse, who after her discharge from the Army Nurse Corps in WW II practiced nursing at many levels and ended her career as a director of nursing. He was also influenced by his older brother, Edward who is also an accomplished podiatric surgeon and has served as chief of Podiatric Medicine at 6 different hospitals in the metropolitan Detroit area.
Dr. Gordon attended college at Michigan State University and Wayne State University. He attended Medical School at Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a Podiatric Surgical Resident at Harrison Community Hospital, Mt.Clemens, Michigan, now St. Johns Macomb Center. Dr. Gordon has practiced Podiatry for over 25 years, 7 years in Naples and Collier county. He previously was President and Medical Director for the Seattle Bunion Clinic & Foot Care Center in Seattle, Washington. He was very involved with the Washington State Chapter of the arthritis Foundation, serving as the chairman for the Telethon for 4 years, serving on the board of directors and the executive committee. He was also a national delegate to their annual convention. He is triple board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics & Primary Podiatric Medicine, and the American Board of Forensic Medicine, He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons and a Fellow American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine. Dr. Gordon is also a Founding Member of the International Aesthetic Foot Society.
He graduated with a B.A. in sociology and has credits towards a masters degree in medical social work and in 1994 started and completed 2 years of law school. He never intended on practicing law, but wanted to make health care policy.
His interests outside of medicine are varied and like everyone change. He has knowledge of vintage cars, antiques including toys, banks and other varied subjects. He has taken rafts down the 3 branches of the Salmon River in Idaho, the Snake River through Hell's Canyon, the Colorado River. He rafted these rivers for 20 years. In his spare time he can found on the tennis courts, still playing singles. He enjoys vacationing with his lovely wife, Claudia. They enjoy exotic places like China, Egypt, Africa, India, South America, Russia and Europe especially Italy and England. His wife, also from Michigan, was originally employed in hospital finance and for the last 25 years has enjoyed working as an upscale travel consultant.
Dr. Gordon has had the pleasure of treating many world class athletes including Olympic Gold Medallists, a triple world record holder, professional basketball players, but most important the nicest patients in the community.
